For foreign nationals, the Marriage ceremony conducted outside the precincts of the court is $175, and within the court is $125.
Legal Requirements for Getting Married in Barbados
When applying for a marriage license, you will need to provide the following documents:
- Valid passport.
- Birth certificate.
- Return plane ticket.
- Provide the relevant documentation if one or both partners are divorced or widowed, and legal translation of the certificate.
- Both parties must be present at the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Information.
- You will need to present either an original letter that has been signed by the Marriage Officer or an official notice that has been issued by the Magistrate that states his/her intention to perform the wedding ceremony.
Other legal requirements are:
- The marriage license is valid for 3 months, and there is no waiting period or minimum stay required to get married in Bali.
- To apply for a marriage license, one must be at least 18 years old.
- 2 witnesses are required who are older than 16 years, and able to speak and understand English.
- There is no restriction for foreign people marrying in Bali, provided that they are in the country legally and get the proper marriage license.
- All documents not in English must be accompanied by an English translation that is certified by an authorized Notary Public, and not a Justice of the Peace.
